10 Year Anniversary

This is the year of celebration! David turned 40 in October, our 10 year anniversary was last week, and we are about to celebrate 10 years of being in Virginia (well in a couple months).

We just had a great visit with our friends the Middlekauffs. We are lucky they have family in Maryland and Colorado since we are near Maryland and we are always in Colorado, we do get to see them from time to time. We are glad they take their time to come and see us.

David and I decided to go to a place near Asheville, North Carolina for our 10 year anniversary. We really wanted to go somewhere tropic, but with all the things going on, we decided to stay within a days drive from the house. We rented a cabin and stayed in the area for about 5 days. We went to Chimney Rock, hung around Hendersonville, and went to Dupont Forest. Apparently this is the area where they filmed part of "last of the Mohicans" and parts of "Hunger Games"

We had a great time with each other. I think everyone with young kids need to have the opportunity to go somewhere and reconnect.

We got back a couple days before Christmas. My daughter started crying the moment I walked in the door. She hasn't really left my side since. It was pretty hard for her for us to be gone. My parents stayed with them.

This year our family tried really hard to get 2nd hand toys for Christmas. It was a little hard because you really have to be looking way in advance. I say we did %50 of used toys. We adults did not do Christmas because my parents are about to go overseas and we spent time on our 10 year. It was just the right amount of toys though. Really kids only need 2 or 3 toys.
